FWCC Strengthens Partnership with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions

31 Jul, 2026

On 30 July 2026, the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre (FWCC) delivered a presentation on its counselling services to the Sexual Crimes Division at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). The session was facilitated by Miliana Tarai, Manager Legal, and Elina Cagilaba, Counsellor Supervisor, and focused on FWCC’s counselling processes, referral pathways, support services for complainants, and the role of counselling in supporting survivors throughout the criminal justice process.

The session provided an opportunity for meaningful dialogue on how counselling and legal services can work together to better support survivors of violence as they navigate the court process. Discussions also explored referral procedures, expectations around counselling support, and ways to strengthen coordination between agencies in the interests of complainants/survivors.

FWCC values its longstanding partnership with the ODPP, a relationship that dates back to the 1990s and has played an important role in strengthening support and access to justice for survivors of violence. Through continued collaboration and mutual learning, both organisations remain committed to ensuring that survivors receive the support, information, and assistance they need while seeking justice.

FWCC welcomes opportunities such as these to strengthen professional partnerships and looks forward to continuing its close working relationship with the ODPP in support of survivors throughout Fiji.
