The following below has been reposted from the Facebook page of Pacific Recycling Foundation
Every workplace has a responsibility to create an environment where people feel safe, respected and heard.
Our teams from Waste Recyclers Fiji Limited (WRFL), Pacific Recycling Foundation (PRF) and Malhana Cloud Kitchen participated in an important Sexual Harassment Awareness and Prevention Training facilitated by the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre (FWCC).
We were privileged to have Shamima Ali, Coordinator of the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre and a globally recognised and resilient human rights activist, lead the session and engage our teams in an important conversation around sexual harassment, prevention, awareness, and protection in the workplace.
The session was attended by members of the WRFL Finance and Compliance team, representatives from the PRF team, and the entire Malhana Cloud Kitchen crew.
The training provided our teams with a deeper understanding of sexual harassment, its impact on individuals and workplaces, and the importance of recognising inappropriate behaviour and creating an environment where concerns can be addressed with dignity and respect.
This is only the beginning of our ongoing efforts to strengthen workplace awareness and protection. Further training sessions will be conducted across our branches and with the wider management team.
We will also be working closely with the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre to review our existing Sexual Harassment Policy and establish a dedicated committee to further strengthen our internal processes and response mechanisms.
We sincerely thank Shamima Ali and the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre for taking the time to engage with our teams and for sharing their knowledge and experience on an issue that deserves continued attention in every workplace.
